Santa Clarita Father Arrested On Suspicion Of Murdering 2-Month-Old Daughter

A Santa Clarita father has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the “exhaustive” child fatality investigation of his 2-month-old daughter who died in September.

On Thursday, deputies arrested 26-year-old Marcel James Taylor for the murder and alleged child abuse that resulted in the death of his 2-month-old daughter, according to the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department Information Bureau (SIB).

“Taylor remains in custody in lieu of $2 million bail,” read a statement from the SIB on Sunday morning.

The arrest follows an “exhaustive” child fatality investigation, where investigators and coroners officials examined the circumstances around the 2-month-old’s death, as is routine when a child dies, unless caused by a traffic collision or recreational emergency.

Around 3 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 26, emergency responders received reports of a baby not breathing in an apartment on the 18000 block of Grace Lane in Canyon Country, according to Franklin Lopez, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Fire Department at the time.

“Upon arriving, deputies and fire department personnel discovered the two-month-old victim unresponsive,” read a report from the SIB.

The child was transported to Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital before being airlifted to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, according to officials.

After almost two days of medical treatment and evaluation, the 2-month-old passed away in the hospital.

“The Homicide Bureau is investigating now that the child passed away,” said Lt. Derrick Alfred with the Homicide Bureau in a previous KHTS story, mere days after the 2-month-old had died.

The Special Victims Bureau, which investigates crimes that involve possible child cruelty cases, has also launched an investigation and continues to work alongside the Homicide Bureau as the investigation goes on.

Further details regarding what led up to the baby’s death remains unknown to the public as the case  develops.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500 or Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-8477.

  1. No worry, Gas-Con & the CCP Liberals will let it out within hours for trash pick up. He may have been disenfranchised/underserved/marginalized and didn’t listen to the Golden Rule during his free taxpayer paid lunch break. Not it’s fault, it had a bad childhood unlike so many other humans. Did it listen to & emulate Travis Scott & Blue Face?!!?
