Santa Clarita Pursuit On 5 Freeway Reaches 120 MPH, Handgun Recovered

A Santa Clarita pursuit on the 5 Freeway early Saturday morning reached about 120 miles per hour before the suspect was taken into custody, officials said.

On June 6 at about 4:20 a.m., a California Highway Patrol (CHP) unit observed a Nissan Sentra for a speeding violation on the northbound I-5 at Valencia Boulevard, according to Officer Josh Greengard, spokesperson for the CHP Newhall Area Office.

“We attempted to stop the vehicle, the vehicle failed to yield to our emergency lights,” Greengard said.

California Highway Patrol officers pursued the vehicle for approximately six miles before the vehicle stopped on the right shoulder, according to Greengard

“During the pursuit, the vehicle’s speed ranged from 95 to 120 miles per hour,” he said.

The driver, Maxiemillion Dixon, 23, of Vallejo, was taken into custody and charged with felony evading a peace officer, according to arrest records.

“A handgun was recovered,” Greengard said.

Dixon was booked at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station before being released on zero bail, according to arrest logs.

  2. Zero bail thanks governors for making most things just a slap on the hand. ?

  3. Thank you but not agreeing with going that fast due to the safety of others such as my kids being on the freeway and CHP looses control and harms a life. Senseless. Even if it’s a high speed pursuit, I have seen LAPD back off and not go that fast.
