Deputies with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station completed a search of Dr. J. Michael McGrath Elementary School in Newhall Thursday night after receiving a report of a man with a gun.
Investigators are continuing to work to determine the identity of the human remains found in Santa Clarita this past August.

Here are the crime reports for Canyon Country West,Castaic, Val Verde, Newhall, Stevenson Ranch and Valencia.
Canyon Country West
This past week in Zone 7, the following Part-1 Crimes are currently under investigation by Santa Clarita Valley Station detectives:
A robbery occurred near the 20600 block of Golden Triangle Road. One suspect was arrested for taking store items from a nearby business and fighting with store employees over the taken items.
A residential burglary occurred near the 26800 block of Claudette Street. Person(s) unknown forced entry into the victim’s garage and store his bicycle from within.
A commercial burglary occurred near the 18000 block of Sierra Highway. Person(s) unknown forced entry into the location and stole approximately $20 is cash from within.
A vehicle burglary occurred near the 18700 block of Mandan Street. Person(s) unknown shattered the victim’s front passenger window to his vehicle and stole numerous items from within.
A petty theft occurred near the 19600 block of Drycliff Street. Person(s) unknown entered the victim’s unlocked vehicle and stole loose change from within.
A shoplifting occurred near the 19300 block of Soledad Canyon Road. One suspect was arrested for taking store items and making no attempt to pay for the items.

Castaic and Val Verde
A domestic dispute was reported from the 31000 block of The Old Road. The victim received stitches from an object thrown at them from their spouse. The crime occurred on 6-6-15 during the early morning hours.
An assault was reported from an unknown address on San Martinez Avenue. A dispute occurred between several known associates over an arm wrestling competition. All parties were uncooperative with responding deputies. The incident is believed to be gang related.
A residential burglary was reported from the 29000 block of Cromwell Avenue. The victim reported seeing a male suspect leaving their garage. The suspect description was the same as another theft related report in the area. The burglary occurred days after their garage door opened was stolen from their vehicle. The crime occurred on 9-25-15.
A theft was reported from the 29000 block of Cromwell Avenue. The above mentioned victim’s vehicle had several items stolen from inside it while parked in the driveway. The crime occurred on 9-21. Among the items stolen were the garage door opener. The vehicle was unlocked at the time of the theft.
A theft was reported from the 28000 block of Lincoln Avenue. A male suspect, matching the same description as above, was seen attempting to take items from the victim’s yard. The suspect ran to a waiting vehicle when confronted, and drove away. The victim followed the suspect vehicle until law enforcement personnel were notified. The suspect was detained and identified by Ventura County Sheriff Department but was not arrested at the time of the incident. Santa Clarita deputies met the victim at his residence, confirmed that a crime had occurred and took a report. Station detectives are handling the investigation. The crime occurred on 9-27-15.
A theft was reported from the 31000 block of Castaic Road. The victim’s credit card was compromised and $2,671.00 of diesel gas were purchased. The card was used at numerous locations including two locations in Castaic.

Newhall
An assault with a deadly weapon occurred near the 23600 block of Meadowridge Dr., Newhall. Three suspects approached the victim while sitting in his vehicle and asked if he was affiliated with any gangs. One suspect pointed a gun at the victim, and then fled on foot with the other two suspects.
A residential burglary occurred near the 24400 block of Valle Del Oro, Newhall. Suspect(s) unknown entered the victim’s garage through an unlocked side door and stole items.
A residential burglary occurred near the 21300 block of Alder Dr., Newhall. Suspect(s) unknown forced entry into the victim’s residence through the front door and stole items.
A residential burglary occurred near the 24600 block of Newhall Ave., Newhall. Suspect(s) unknown forced entry into the victim’s detached garage through the rear door and stole items.
A vehicle burglary occurred near the 25835 block of Railroad Ave., Newhall. Suspect(s) unknown shattered the victim’s driver’s side window and stole items.
A petty theft occurred near the 25000 block of Walnut St., Newhall. Suspect(s) unknown stole the victim’s unsecured bicycle from the bicycle rack.
A grand theft occurred near the 21300 block of Bottletree Ln., Newhall. Suspect(s) unknown stole the victim’s locked vehicle while parked at the location.
A grand theft occurred near the 24300 block of Sweet Shade Ln., Newhall. Suspect(s) unknown stole the victim’s locked vehicle. The vehicle was located in LAPD’s West Valley Division area.
A grand theft occurred near the 24600 block of Wiley Cyn. Rd., Newhall. Suspect(s) unknown stole the victim’s vehicle while parked at the location.
Stevenson Ranch
An attempt robbery occurred on the 25800 block of The Old Rd. A female adult attempted to leave the location with items she did not pay for. When a store employee attempted to stop her, the suspect pushed her several times, then left the location in an unknown vehicle. The suspect dropped the items during the altercation, along with $60.00 of her own money.
A burglary occurred on the 25500 The Old Rd. Person(s) unknown stole a vacuum cleaner from the location. The manager stated that the store was locked, but there were no signs of forced entry.
A grand theft occurred on the 24900 block of Pico Canyon Rd. A male adult went into the store and grabbed 2 iphone 6 cell phones and broke them off from the security cables attached to the display stand. The suspect then exited the location without paying for the items.
A grand theft occurred on the 25400 block of The Old Rd. 2 male adults and 1 female adult attempted to exit the store with 2 shopping carts loaded with merchandise which they did not pay for. When contacted by loss prevention officers, the female adult and one of the male adults ignored the loss prevention officer and loaded the items into their vehicle. They then left the location in an unknown direction. The second male adult was detained and over $1,000.00 of merchandise were recovered. He was arrested for grand theft.
A petty theft occurred on the 25400 The Old Rd. 2 male adults cut the security cable which secured several bicycles on display outside the store. One of the suspects then rode off on a black mountain bike while the other suspect left on foot.
A petty theft from vehicle occurred on the 26500 block of Thackery Ln. Person(s) unknown entered the victim’s unlocked vehicle and stole 6 ‘Raiders’ football tickets.
A petty theft from vehicle occurred on the 26600 block of Shakespeare Ln. Person(s) unknown entered the victim’s unlocked vehicle, which was parked in the driveway of her home, and stole her wallet and 2 pair of high value sunglasses.
A petty theft from vehicle occurred on the 26003 block of Shadow Rock Ln. Person(s) unknown entered the victim’s unlocked vehicle, which was parked in the driveway of his home, and stole his wallet containing his driver’s license, $160.00 in U.S. currency, and several debit and credit cards.
Valencia
A burglary occurred near the 24100 block of Del Monte Drive. An unknown suspect entered the victim’s residence, possibly through the master bedroom window and stole personal electronic items. No signs of forced entry was observed at the location.
A burglary occurred near the 24200 block of Magic Mountain Parkway. A male suspect was arrested from the location for trying to cash a fictitious check in a few different names. The suspect also had forged numerous items in other victim’s names.
A grand theft vehicle occurred near the 23900 block of Del Monte Drive. An unknown suspect stole the victim’s vehicle, which was left unlocked while it was parked at the location. The key to the vehicle was also left in the vehicle at the time of the theft.
A vehicle burglary occurred near the 27000 block of Alabastro Drive. An unknown suspect pried open the victim’s vehicle door and stole a small bag of tools.
A theft from a vehicle occurred near the 24100 block of Fushia Court. An unknown suspect entered the victim’s toolbox which was attached to the bed of his truck. The toolbox was left unlocked. Miscellaneous tools were stolen from inside the tool box.
A petty theft occurred near the 24400 block of Magic Mountain Parkway. A female suspect was arrested from the location for failing to pay for items she had concealed on her persons
