Stand-Off On 14 Freeway Ends In Arrest Of Hit And Run Suspect

A stand-off on the 14 freeway Saturday evening resulted in the arrest of a hit and run suspect after over an hour of call-outs and traffic build-up.

At around 4:40 p.m. a California Highway patrol officer attempted to detain a hit and run suspect driving a white pick-up truck, according to Fox 11.

The suspect attempted to drive away but was stalled on the 14 Freeway on-ramp near Soledad Canyon Road.

As a result the lanes of the northbound 14 freeway were closed by CHP, resulting in significant back-up for drivers.

Law enforcement engaged in a stand-off with the suspect for approximately 90 minutes before calling in a K-9 unit at around 5:30 p.m.

At 6:20 p.m officers were able to get a K-9 unit into the truck through the passenger seat.

The suspect was detained and lanes began opening up at 6:22 p.m. according to CHP Sig Alerts.

Details about the hit-run crash are not available as of Sunday 3:30 p.m.
