Three people were arrested early Thursday morning after a traffic stop in Canyon Country led to the discovery of a large quantity of methamphetamine.
Patrol deputies conducted the traffic stop around 2 a.m. in the area of Soledad Canyon Road and Whites Canyon Road for a vehicle code violation.
During the stop, deputies learned that one male passenger had an outstanding narcotics warrant.
A search of the vehicle uncovered a large quantity of methamphetamine, along with baggies and a digital scale, items commonly associated with narcotics sales, sheriff’s officials said.
Deputies also determined that a female passenger had multiple prior narcotics-related convictions.
All three occupants of the vehicle – a 38-year-old Saugus resident Thomas Lordtoneaina, 29-year-old Jose Martinez and a 48-year-old Rebecca Smith – were arrested on multiple narcotics-related charges, including felony possession of a controlled substance for sale.
The suspects were transported and booked at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station jail.
The investigation remains ongoing.
