Two Arrested In Canyon Country For Outstanding Warrants, Identity Theft

A man and woman allegedly in possession of stolen identification cards were arrested on identity theft and narcotics charges during a traffic stop in Canyon Country Wednesday.

Around 2 a.m. Wednesday, deputies patrolling near the 19400 block of Soledad Canyon Road in Canyon Country pulled over a vehicle for not adhering to vehicle codes, said Deputy Liza Melgar, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“During a search of the vehicle deputies located an identification card, and 2 plain checks inside a pink wallet which did not belong to either suspect,” Melgar said.

Both suspects were detained as deputies did an initial investigation of the vehicle, Melgar said.

“Deputies contacted the male driver who was on active probation and had an outstanding warrant,” Melgar added.

Deputies connected the female passenger who stated she was the owner of the vehicle, Melgar said.

Christian Orozco, was arrested for his outstanding warrants and remains in custody as of Thursday morning.

Natalie Phelps, 38, from Canyon Country, was arrested for identity theft, possession of narcotics, and drug paraphernalia and released on citation to appear in court at a later date.

In February of this year, Phelps was arrested on forgery and identity theft charges for allegedly stealing approximately $2,000 from a victim’s bank account while the victim was in the hospital.
