Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies responded to the report of a robbery on the 27000 block of McBean Parkway in Valencia, according to Shirley Miller, spokesperson for the station.
“The victim, an adult female, reported that she was sitting in the patio area of a restaurant when a male teen forcibly grabbed the backpack she was holding and ran off into the parking lot, fleeing in an awaiting vehicle,” said Miller.
Deputies responded and immediately sent out a law enforcement crime broadcast, according to Sheriff’s officials.
“Not too long after the crime broadcast, SCV Sheriff’s deputies were notified by CHP officers that they were conducting a traffic stop near Crown Valley Road, Acton, on a vehicle matching the description of the suspects,” Miller said.
The passenger in the vehicle was positively identified by the victim to be the suspect sought in the robbery.
Deputies detained the passenger, a 16-year-old male, and the driver, a 17-year-old male, both from the Antelope Valley area, according to Miller.
The passenger was detained on two felony charges of robbery and conspiracy to commit a crime. The driver was detained on two felony charges of conspiracy to commit a crime and accomplice to a crime.
The driver was additionally charged with being an unlicensed driver.
Both male juveniles were transported to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station, and then later transported to Sylmar Juvenile Hall.
