Valencia Nissan is paying the cost of adoption fees for 15-20 adoptable shelter dogs at their inaugural Pet Adoption Day on Saturday, and will also be issuing vouchers for anyone who stops by the event so they can adopt at the shelter for free.

Volunteers from the Castaic Animal Shelter are set to bring a number of adoptable dogs to the event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Valencia Nissan, located at 24111 Creekside Road.

Event setup has already begun at Valencia Nissan.

Valencia Nissan will pay adoption fees up to $165 per pet, and for those who don’t find their new best friend at the event itself, vouchers will be issued to cover fees at the Castaic Animal Shelter from the day of the event until June 3.

Karen Stepp, manager of the Castaic Animal Shelter, said she is looking forward to having a great event, meeting new people and getting dogs adopted.

Valencia Nissan is the newest sponsor of the KHTS Adoptable Pet of the Week series, and the dealership’s executive manager, Bob Bailey, said the event is a chance to do something right.

“I hope to do this every quarter,” Bailey said.  “I saw a need and thought it would be worthwhile.”

Although there are not any cats planned to be showcased at the event, all cats are free to adopt through the Castaic Animal Shelter — and all Los Angeles County shelters — thanks to a grant by the ASPCA.

“We’re really excited,” said Don Barre, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care and Control. “We think it’s going to be a great event.”
