Many people believe that you must believe in either Science or Theology, but you can’t believe in both; Professor Mark Phillips from Trinity disputes the argument, professing that Science and Religion are not at war, but more like different sides of the same coin since Science has its roots in Christian thought.

Professor Phillips, who earned his Ph.D at University of Oxford in England, is very frank about his 2011 move from college-level training to secondary-level teaching at Trinity Classical Academy.
In a discussion with Dr John Mark Reynolds, founder of the Torrey Honors Institute at Biola University in La Mirada, Reynolds called Trinity Classical Academy the best school in California, and one of the best in the nation.
The Science program differs right off the bat from other area schools; the Science Department is Called the Science and Theology Department, giving credit to the understanding of theological perspectives on scientific observations.
“We call the department the Science and Theology department,” Phillips explains, “because we realize how integrated these two disciplines are.”
Science has its roots in Christian thought and was invented as a way to approach what was called ‘natural philosophy’ before the name was changed to science.

One of the earlier studies, called The Cambrian Period marked an important point in the history of life on Earth; it is the time when most of the major groups of animals first appear in the fossil record.
This event is sometimes called the “Cambrian Explosion,” because of the relatively short time over which this diversity of forms appears.
An expert on the subject, Dr. Stephen C. Meyer directs the Discovery Institute’s Center for Science and Culture in Seattle and will speak on the case for Intelligent Design and other contemporary scientific theories.
In his latest book, Darwin’s Doubt, he expanded the scope of the case to the whole sweep of life’s history. Meyer’s research addresses the deepest mystery surrounding the origin of life, the origin of animal life and the origin of biological information necessary to produce it.
The book is on the New York Times Bestseller list and won “Book of the Year” from The Times of London Literary Supplement.
The lecture is free and open to the public, taking place Monday, October 12th at 7pm at the Trinity Classical Academy campus, located at 28310 Kelly Johnson Parkway, in Valencia.
