The flash flood watch is expected to go into effect at 4 p.m., with officials at the National Weather Service Los Angeles Forecast branch saying that the highest chance of any thunderstorms would be at about 6 p.m. this evening.
However, currently, there is just a Flood Advisory issued for the Santa Clarita Valley.
“The main concern would be if a thunderstorm were to develop,” said Meteorologist Scott Sukup of the National Weather Service, “we would then issue a flash flood warning.”
The focus of the alert is mainly just the burn areas from the recent Sand, Calgrove, and Sage Fires.

Residents can head to any Los Angeles County fire station for sandbags if needed, there is, however, a limit of 10 per resident.
KHTS was recently at a meeting with LA County and Santa Clarita City officials to discuss the potential dangers of flooding in the burn areas, you can find a full video of the meeting here.
