Henry Mayo Hospital To Host Diabetic Prevention Program

Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital is hosting a diabetic prevention program in recognition of November being National Diabetes Awareness month.

Lilly Novak, Community Outreach Coordinator for Henry Mayo Hospital, spoke with KHTS about the diabetic prevention program and what to expect.

“A lot of people are walking around not knowing that they are pre-diabetic,” Novak said. “Many do not realize they are pre-diabetic because they are experiencing any symptoms or not going to the doctor at all.”

Common symptoms can vary but often are: being thirsty, going to the restroom often, being overweight and family history of diabetes.

Henry Mayo in Santa Clarita hopes to inform the public about prediabetes and diabetes and will hold an informational program December 1 from 5:30 – 6 pm.

“This will give the public general information about our prediabetes prevention program,” Novak said.

Throughout the year, you will be on a journey with others in the program as well as a lifestyle coach that will instruct and guide you on how to prevent diabetes and live a happy and healthy life, Novak said.
