Insight Treatment Center Answers The Question, “Why Does A Teen Misbehave?”

When teenagers and young adults find it difficult to verbalize their feelings of distress, a response or way they express these feelings is by acting out in very rebellious ways. However, these rebellious actions can be much deeper than a misbehaving teen.

“Emotional needs are not being met” and this is often where Insight starts, explains Lisa Dixon, Admissions Director and Intake Coordinator at Insight Treatment Center.

Lisa sees cases where many teens and families come to her and she then can offer a screening of the current situations at hand.

How Much Time Will My Teen Take To Get “Better” ?

To believe a teen can overcome and accomplish their emotional distress just through a short time based plan or through residential treatment is rarely the answer.

Taking time with cases is vital to ensuring a teen’s full growth and department from extreme behavior.

Lisa elaborates that “to really see the changes in behavior, self confidence, self esteem, depression, anxiety….the whole family does need to do that work. It takes a long time, it does not take 4 weeks.”

While teens can and do accomplish so much in residential programs, the next steps into real world environments can be difficult to adjust. The transition out of the program can mean more triggers and less supervision when compared to their past environment.

“All these things you mastered can become challenging,” said Frederick Shulan, owner of Insight Treatment Center.

How Should Parents Take Action?

Part of what Insight Treatment Center proficiently does is give parents tools on how to set limits with their kids in a healthy way through guiding them on how to speak with their teens and creating family therapy to help healthy communications on issues they carry.

Insight will set up groups with the parents and their teens for both to learn how to establish dialogue with each other in ways that are constructive.

Seth Bland of Insight explains that a staple of their services are to “navigate these traditionally difficult situations where things can escalate and get out of control.”

If you find a teen in your life is having difficulty coping with their life and mental health, Insight Treatment offers effective communication and therapy services to aid not just the teens, but parents as well.

  2. Listening to Gangster Rap ( PC called hip-hop or Rap to sell, sell, sell to easily influenced sheeple) doesn’t help as well as “hanging out” with questionable thugs, smoking, drinking, listening to Gangster Rap!! Low self esteem youth are easily manipulated!
