Opportunity For Growth Through Our Bad Decisions

The things that seem to be the worst in my life—at the time—have turned out to be the greatest assets, according to a staff member at The Way Out Recovery.

A staff member from The Way Out Recovery describes that even though you are in a low place, that low place can turn out to be a great opportunity for growth. We may not see it at the time but as long as we keep pushing for that healthy recovery, then that is all that matters.

Many people have the choice to stop and reflect on what is killing them and ruining their relationships with loved ones. Our bad decisions can be rewarding in the end, but it may take time to see it.

“Two-thirds of all families in the United States have been directly affected by addiction,” according to The Way Out Recovery SCV.

Substance abuse in a family can put a toll in the family when they want to help the addict. The problem is how to talk to them because if the family member says the wrong thing, then the addict will turn away from them.

The most dangerous drug to cause more damage to your body is nicotine. It causes more death than other drugs and the second dangerous drug is alcohol.

“Alcohol deaths is the third leading cause of death in the United States,” according to The WAy Out Recovery SCV.

Many people do not know they have a problem until they try to stop drinking. They find themselves self-medicating the drug because they need it to go about their day.

At The Way Out Recovery they teach about the dangers of drug use mostly to the youth groups. They want to be able to spread awareness to the younger generations and help others with their knowledge.

Parents need to set the right attitude in their household so that their children know better not to do drugs. Oftentimes parents will have drinks lying around which should be away from child reach or not in the household.

“I was rummaging through the house trying to find some and I always found some,” an outpatient shares his story about finding marijuana in the house.

Treatment centers have played a major part in recovery and continues to grow.
