Santa Clarita Hearing Center Discusses Factors That Contribute To Hearing Loss

The sense of hearing is detrimental to the quality of life for many people. Taking care of our ears often becomes something people can easily neglect with many things such as loud concerts without wearing earplugs and amplifying music into our ears at a volume that is dangerously high from our headphones.

Damage to our hearing becomes something down the road we easily start to notice and many become unaware of the dangerous ways our hearing can become compromised until it is too late.

The Santa Clarita Hearing Center informs and educates you of the many other factors we as everyday people may be unaware of when it comes to hearing loss and damage.

There are two major forms of hearing loss in people: Conductive Hearing Loss & Sensorial Hearing Loss

With Conductive Hearing Loss, the outer or middle ear blocks sound from the inner ear. Mediation or surgery often is the remedy used in treatment and this type of condition is usually temporary as well as very rare.

Things that cause Conductive Hearing Loss include :

-Ear infections

-Benign tumors

-Swimmer’s Ear

-Foreign object in the ear

-Fluid in the middle ear from colds

-Absence or malformation of the outer ear, ear canal, or middle ear

-Allergies

-Perforated eardrum

-Impacted cerumen (earwax)
