Benji arrived at the shelter earlier this month as a stray, and quickly became a volunteer favorite with his readiness to prance around the play yard with a toy in his mouth or settle quietly into a lap for cuddles and kisses.KHTS Adopt a Pet - Benji

“Benji is a very happy, friendly little guy,” said Randi Andrews, a volunteer at the Castaic Animal Shelter. “He’s quite energetic, but … he’s also quite a cuddle bug and he loves to be on your lap and to give kisses.”

Andrews believes Benji would do best in an active home, possibly with older children, where he can go for walks and gets lots of playtime and love.

“He’s a very smart little guy — he already knows the ‘sit’ command,” said Andrews. “He could benefit from some additional training as well.”

Andrews continued, “Benji is definitely a volunteer favorite, and we’re really hoping that he’s going to find his perfect forever home really soon.”

About the KHTS Adopt a Pet Series

Once a month, the KHTS Adopt a Pet series features an adoptable animal from the Santa Clarita Valley in need of a home. The KHTS Features team travels to different rescues and shelters in Santa Clarita to meet the pets and tell their stories in hopes of helping them get adopted. First launched in August 2016, the series has partnered with seven local rescues, as well as the Castaic Animal Shelter, to showcase more than 100 dogs, cats and bunnies, and has seen more than 90 adoptions so far. The series was created by Melissa Lampert-Abramovitch, who has more than 10 years of experience in the animal rescue world and co-founded Madeline’s Angels Pet Sanctuary in Santa Clarita in 2016.
