Governor’s Executive Order Calls For Vote-By-Mail In CA-25 Runoff Election

L.A. County Supervisors Propose All Voters Receive Vote-By-Mail Ballots For 2020 General Election

The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors have proposed a motion that would send all voters a mail-in-ballot for the 2020 General Election in efforts to slow the spread of the coronavirus, officials said Friday.

Supervisors Janice Hahn and Sheila Kuehl have proposed sending a Vote-by-Mail ballot to all eligible L.A. County voters for the general election this November, according to County documents.

“No one should have to choose between their health and their right to vote,” Hahn who authored the motion said. “We don’t know what challenges we will be facing in this pandemic this November, but by sending every voter a mail-in-ballot we can ensure that everyone can cast their ballot safely, no matter what the future holds.”

The current “Safer At Home” public health order is set to expire May 15, but health officials have acknowledged that some form of social distancing could be needed for an extended period of time and that “Safer At Home” orders may be reenacted if deemed necessary to slow the spread of COVID-19, according to County officials.

These issues could present challenges for the General Election, including possibly hampering the recruitment of election workers or making it difficult for in-person voting locations to meet capacity demands while ensuring social distancing, according to officials.

“Nothing, including all the challenges related to COVID-19, should be allowed to prevent voters from casting their ballots in November,” Kuehl, who co-authored the motion said. “This motion takes necessary steps to ensure that all L.A. County voters could vote by mail in November.”

The proposal, which is scheduled to be voted on during this Tuesday’s Board of Supervisors meeting, would mean that the County of Los Angeles would send mail-in-ballots to every eligible voter in all elections starting with the Nov. 3, 2020 General Election, according to officials.

It would also instruct the Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk to take appropriate measures to align in-person voting options for the General Election to ensure the safety of voters and election workers.

The supervisors have also proposed sending letters to both the Los Angeles County Congressional Delegation and the Los Angeles County State Legislative Delegation urging that funding be allocated to support the implementation of the expanded vote-by-mail model.

L.A. County Supervisors Propose All Voters Receive Vote-By-Mail Ballots For 2020 General Election

  1. Taking away our constitutional rights not because of a “virus” but because they are worried that President Trump is going to win. They plan to harvest ballots and toss out -or “lose” – any Republican ballot to throw the election. And they have the NERVE to accuse President Trump of election fraud in 2016. If it is okay to shop while wearing a mask and/or gloves, it’s ok to vote too

    • Keep drinking the Kool-aid and don’t forget to ingest your Clorox you idiot. The biggest threat to our democracy is that authoritarian unstable genius. God help us all.

      • AYTU Bioscience and Cedar-Sinai were already researching UV light into intubated persons. I believe there is some kind of wash (hydrogan-peroxide?) they can do inside the body. Oh look I asked a question just like Trump did. Democrats take it as a fact and start drinking hand sanitizer.

Of course Trump can’t come out and say the companies outright, although AYTU stock went up 40% today. Trump is playing 4D chess, playing the Democrats like a fiddle. The media is desperate and drooling over anything he says.

    • I agree. The local California Democratic party wants George Gascon elected to Los Angeles District Attorney.
Gascon was author of Prop 47 and other prisoner release programs that produced the vagrants in tents around California. These ex-prisoners were no longer contained in prisons. They were just released into the streets. On the night of the election, the incumbent Jackie Lacy had 56% of the vote. She was not the choice of the California Democratic party, so the further harvested ballots decreased her percentage of the vote from 56% to 46%. That is statistically impossible, unless the ballots were fooled around with.

  2. No way if we can go to the store we can go out and vote!!

  3. L.A. County Supervisors Propose All Voters Receive Vote-By-Mail Ballots For 2020 General Election!
What could go wrong with that?

So the supervisors proposed sending letters to both the Los Angeles County Congressional Delegation and the Los Angeles County State Legislative Delegation, part of the, AKA the super majority, urging that funding be allocated to support the implementation of the expanded vote-by-mail to all Voters for 2020 General Election, while folks and biz’s still can’t get PPP or stimulus help, why not tackle the current issues at hand, they can’t. Never let a crisis go by without?

Furthermore, they suggest they don’t know what challenges of trying to control the narrative they will face with this pandemic in November no matter what the future holds.” NOVEMBER, in a few short days most adults here have and will continue to master however long it takes to social distance as necessary, essential services were able to get it done as quickly (a matter of days) as they needed to survive. I know it’s a challenge for our super majority; after all, they only have seven months to act.
How about the super majority consider the possibility of adopting the 6 foot social distancing rule if needed at that time, you know the one we are all using daily, it seems to be a pretty good model, and we all know how the government likes models, well some not so much, that’s what the majority of us are doing daily to eat, shop, and just exist, why is voting any different, by then the process of legitimate mail-in voting will continue as usual, an we the people will continue to have a choice,

Additionally, when I read above that the need for an extended period of time of the “Safer At Home” orders may be reenacted if deemed necessary to slow the spread of COVID-19, I feel in the current political environment we are in, of course they will deem it necessary.

  5. I’ve voted by mail for years. What’s the big deal?
Are you offering to personally drive people who can’t get there? How kind.

    • Election Day is in the middle of a work week. Nobody gets paid time-off to vote. Early voting or mail-in ballots are required to have a fair election. This is already here. Not sure the Supes aren’t just getting some publicity.

  6. I have not voted by mail-in for years, I suggested that mail-in voting should continue as usual, and WE the people who don’t do mail-in voting for whatever reason will continue to have a choice,

I find it problematic that part of the reasoning that the L.A. County Supervisor are bringing this up at this time in my opinion, is to keep their agenda of mail in voting for ALL continuing, this isn’t a new idea.

Additionally, they want to keep their “Safer At Home” option open for an extended periods of time and have it reenacted if deemed necessary just seems a little questionable, especially when you look at the current politics of reopening the country right now from both sides of the isle.

  7. The same letter from 2 different dissidents, a half hour apart. How does that happen?

    • They’re both mine, one didn’t post originally? So I went back and re-posted only to find the original post was posted a 27 mins later, How does that happen?

Anyway, I wanted to be sure that my dissident post would be seen like the other dissidents in this post.
Based on your comment, I guess you have no problem with this attempted government overreach,
I as well as others do.

    • Think astroturfing; certainly it’s not grass roots in origin. But who is behind this? And why?
You may already have noticed our US Postal system is under attack from Trump and the Republicans.
They want this successful self-sustaining public service privatized aka profitized. Same with our Social Security insurance and medicare. Profitized means for profit, which means more cost, less benefits, unless you happen to be the profiteer.

  8. Mail-in voting ballots sensational idea. However, by Trump withholding aide to the USPS forcing closure, which is Trump’s intent so he can win the election, how would those ballots get delivered?
