A resident of the area was able to detain the three until deputies arrived. Deputies found evidence of a partially constructed pipe bomb and other materials used in the making of pipe bombs. The area was closed for investigation by detectives from the sheriff’s Arson and Explosives detail.

Griffith Limbaugh, 18, of Newhall was charged Tuesday with felony charges of possession of bomb making material, exploding a bomb and possession of a pipe bomb and is being held on $1,150,000 bail. He is scheduled to return to court Feb. 21.

Two juveniles from Saugus were also booked on felony charges of intent to make a destructive device and one was charged with possession of dangerous fireworks. They were cited and released to their parents pending further court action.

Detectives from the Arson and Explosives Detail are investigating the possibility of a connection between this case and recent bottle bomb incidents in Valencia and Saugus.

Anyone with information regarding this crime or related activities is encouraged to call the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s station at 255-1121.
