Pitchess Detention Center Alarm Sounds In Middle Of Night, No Escape Reported

The Pitchess Detention Center alarm sounded Monday morning in Castaic, but no jailbreak was reported, officials said.

Around 12:40 a.m. Monday, the siren for the Pitchess Detention Center in Castaic was heard throughout the Santa Clarita Valley, said Sgt. Benjamin Grubb, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau.

Though the alarm went off, officials confirmed that no inmate had escaped, Grubb said.

The Pitchess Detention Center hosts three areas with varying levels of security: East, South, and North County Correctional Facility.

The detention center is located in Castaic, just off the 5 freeway, and is 2,620 acres. It used to be known as the Wayside Honor Rancho, and some people still refer to it by that name.

As of the publication of this article, it is unclear what caused the jail alarm to sound, according to Sheriff officials.

  1. East facility is closed. The three areas that house inmates are the North and South facilities as well as the North County Correctional Facility.

  2. I was curious if you ever thought of changing the structure
of your website? Its very well written; I love
what youve got to say. But maybe you could a little more in the way of content so people could connect with it better.
Youve got an awful lot of text for only having 1 or 2
pictures. Maybe you could space it out better?

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
