Canyon High Kicker Jarrett Reeser Named MaxPreps First-Team Junior All-American

Canyon High School kicker and punter Jarrett Reeser was named a first-team Junior All-American by MaxPreps on Tuesday.

Reeser led all punters in the nation, among those with at least 30 punts this season, with an average distance of 47.1 yards per punt, according to MaxPreps.

In addition, the Cowboys’ punter was particularly effective at pinning the opposing team deep in their own territory, as 30 of his 50 punts ended inside the opponent’s 20-yard line, according to MaxPreps.

Reeser’s leg wasn’t only effective punting the ball, as he also went six for seven on field goals during his junior season.

Multiple honors have been bestowed upon Reeser after his successful season, including an all-league selection and an all-state selection from MaxPreps in December.

Reeser is a two-sport athlete at Canyon High, where he also plays striker for the Cowboys’ varsity soccer team. He currently leads his team in scoring, with 10 goals on the season.

“Having the opportunity to play both sports at a high level has taught me many cross-sport skills,” said Reeser in a previous interview with KHTS. “Football has become my passion, and from the moment I started, I knew that football was what I wanted to pursue to try and make a college and professional career out of one day.”

Reeser didn’t begin to play football until his sophomore year of high school, after previously playing as an academy player in the San Jose Earthquakes system of Major League Soccer as a youth athlete in the Bay Area.

A family move brought Reeser to Canyon Country, and his former coach from Cupertino High School connected him with Chris Sailer of Chris Sailer Kicking to continue to develop his skills as a kicker and punter.

He was able to put those skills to use right away for first-year Head Coach Joe Maiale and the Canyon Cowboys, officially putting the country on notice that Reeser is one of the top talents in the nation.
