West Ranch remained undefeated in the Foothill League with a hard-fought win over the Saugus Centurions on Wednesday afternoon, despite battling a number of injuries.
“Every player stepped up and contributed to the win. There wasn’t just one or two standouts, because everyone played like a standout,” said West Ranch Head Coach Leesa Chelminiak. “Dealing with recent injuries, including the injury to junior captain Grace Manning, our team showed incredible resilience, energy, and determination.”
Despite the injuries, the Wildcats secured a narrow 12-8 victory, led by Raquel Olmos, who finished with five goals and assists. Lauren Lamb added three goals and seven draw controls, while goalkeeper Nikole Sandoval recorded eight saves.
With the playoffs approaching in the near future, West Ranch looks to finish the season strong and return to full strength. Before then, they have four games remaining, with the next being a road test against Orange Lutheran on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Saugus will host Hart at 5 p.m. as they aim to bounce back.
