West Ranch (5-4) vs. Calabasas (7-2)

Boys Basketball

Friday, 5 p.m., The Warrior Classic at Calabasas High School

The Wildcats have a challenge ahead of them at The Warrior Classic at Calabasas High School on Friday evening, when they take on the Calabasas Coyotes. Calabasas is currently the 72nd ranked team in the state, while West Ranch comes in at 164th, according to prep sports website MaxPreps. After this game, West Ranch doesn’t play again until after the New Year when they open up league play against Canyon on Jan. 7 at home.

Hart (4-2) vs. La Salle (9-0)

Girls Basketball

Friday, 8 p.m., Burroughs Tournament at Burroughs High School

Hart has ripped off four wins in a row after dropping two games to open the season, but faces their most challenging opponent to this point in the season on Saturday, the undefeated La Salle Lancers. The Lancers are currently ranked as the 42nd best team in the state, according to MaxPreps. Hart also has a final game to close the tournament on Saturday, with the opponent to be determined.

Golden Valley (5-0) vs. Golden Valley Bakersfield (4-1)

Boys Soccer

Friday, 2:15 p.m., Golden Valley High School

Golden Valley has come out of the gates firing on all cylinders, as they’ve raced out to an undefeated 5-0 start to the season behind a 16-6 goal differential to this point. They face one of their toughest matchups yet as they take on the high school from Bakersfield sharing the same name as the hosting Grizzlies, the Golden Valley Bulldogs. The Bulldogs have been no slouches on offense either, as they’ve averaged three goals per game to start the season.

Saugus (2-0-1) vs. Pacifica (0-1)

Girls Soccer

Friday, 3 p.m., Buena Tournament at Buena High School

The Centurions haven’t dropped a game yet this season, and they’ll have a chance to make a statement about the kind of season to expect from Saugus at this weekend’s Buena Tournament at Buena High School. In addition to their opening round match with Pacifica, Saugus also has matches against San Marcos (0-1-3) and Buena (1-1) on the slate for the tournament.
