A Castaic vehicle fire that spread to the brush was quickly knocked down by firefighters Friday afternoon, officials said.
Around 4:55 p.m. firefighters received reports of a vehicle fire on the northbound 5 Freeway north of Lake Hughes Road in Castaic, according to Melinda Choi, a supervising dispatcher with the Los Angels County Fire Department.
When units arrived on the scene they reported a vehicle was fully involved and was spreading to the brush, according to Fire officials.
Within minutes of arrival, firefighters were able to have the 50-by-100 spot brush fire knocked down.
Crews are still working to extinguish the vehicle fire.
The No. 1, 2 and 3 lanes of the 5 Freeway have been temporarily closed while crews work to make sure both fires are completely doused, according to the California Highway Patrol.
