At least 12 structures and 21 outbuildings have been destroyed by the Lake Fire, with an additional 4,570 structures still threatened, according to fire officials.
“What I will say is that for the people that lost their structures our hearts go out to them, but I would tell you that my observations of our firefighters is not just from Los Angeles County Fire Department, but from all the firefighters,” said Fire Chief Daryl Osby with the L.A. County Fire Department during a morning press conference. “(Firefighters) are doing things to protect and save structures in a way that I might not do to save my own, so my hat goes off to them as it relates to their commitment.”
The terrain has been rugged, steep, and inaccessible, making it difficult for firefighters to work on the ground to extinguish hot spots.
