The person killed last week in a Canyon Country traffic collision involving a trash truck has been identified.
Alberto Hernandez, 21, of Santa Clarita, has been identified as the person killed in a crash last week between a Burrtec trash truck and a Honda sedan.
At about 7:59 a.m. Friday, emergency responders received reports of a traffic collision on the 17900 block of Soledad Canyon Road near Galeton Avenue in Canyon Country, according to Kaitlyn Aldana, spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Fire Department (LACoFD)
“It was a traffic collision with possible patients trapped,” Aldana said at the time.
Witnesses at the scene reported that a car with at least two occupants had become partially lodged beneath a trash truck.
One person was extricated from the vehicle and transported to a local hospital. The status of this person is unknown as of Monday.
Hernandez was declared dead at the scene.
The cause of the crash was not available as of Monday morning.
