A stranded motorist was killed Friday morning by a 17-year-old hit-and-run driver on the 14 Freeway in Acton.
Around 1:20 a.m. Friday, CHP officers received reports of a three-vehicle crash on the 14 Freeway south of Red Rover Mine in Acton, said Officer Josh Greengard, a spokesperson for the CHP Newhall Area Office.
“A tow truck was assisting a disabled Honda Pilot SUV on the right shoulder, the driver of the tow truck and the driver of the Honda were standing outside the Honda when a Nissan Altima collided into the rear of the Honda,” Greengard said. “This collision pushed the Honda Pilot into the pedestrians.”
This crash caused fatal injuries to the driver of the Honda Pilot.
“After the collision, the driver of the Altima fled the scene on foot and was later apprehended at Henry Mayo Hospital,” Greengard said.
The suspect was a 17-year-old juvenile male.
Hector Aranda, 22, was struck and killed in the crash.
