Just after 10 a.m. Friday, first responders received reports of a traffic collision involving an overturned vehicle on the southbound 14 Freeway just north of the 5 Freeway in Newhall, said Vanessa Lozano a spokesperson with the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

“There were no injuries, and the ambulance was canceled on-scene,” she said.

Initial reports were that the vehicle collided with a semi-truck and overturned multiple times, resulting in it crashing through the guard rail and going down the embankment 100 feet, said Officer Josh Greengard, of the California Highway Patrol Newhall Office.

Officers are still on-scene investigating the crash, but it is unknown as of Friday morning if the reported semi was in fact involved, according to CHP officials.

As of 10:40 a.m. no SigAlerts have been issued.

“Tow vehicles are accessing the collision from surface streets,” Greengard said.

The crash occurred off the 14 Freeway in the Elsmere Canyon Open Space, according to officials.

  1. I witnessed the car smash into the back of the semi ( in the slow lane ) at such a speed that it’s back end flipped up, the car spun on it’s nose, then hit the guardrail upside down and toppled off the side of the hwy. It all took place in just a few seconds.

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
