Buck Bedia, social media manager for LIMS, sat down with George Cummings on KHTS AM-1220 to talk about the Castaic-based organization’s veterans job training program.
“LIMS doesn’t just help veterans through the program, we assist vets until they find a job,” said Bedia.

The institute has a 10-week program for military veterans, who get to train with “industry pros” that have decades of experience, added Bedia.
“That’s what sets this program apart from the others, the networking,” he explained. “It’s not what you know, it’s who you know in this industry — LIMS puts you in contact with some of the best in the business.”
One veteran recently went from “homeless to Hollywood” following his participation in the veterans job training program at LIMS.
“Jimmy Lifton, the owner of LIMS, does a great job doing what he can to place homeless vets,” said Bedia. “The skills they learn in this program can really help these veterans.”
Lifton often helps sponsor homeless veterans’ participation in the program, and also strives to assist the vet obtain housing and basic needs, according to Bedia.
The 10-week training program at LIMS gives veterans “real world experience,” meaning the projects vets work on are very similar to real movies and television shows in the industry, explained Bedia.
“As a veteran, I’m always looking for the ‘catch,’” said Bedia. “But there is no catch with this program — we are just looking to improve the lives of the veterans in our community.”

The Lifton Institute of Media Arts and Sciences, or LIMS, not only offers full-service movie studios Los Angeles filmmakers can use, but also doubles as a film production school. While LIMS students usually have never worked in the industry before, President Jimmy Lifton says that most people have skills that can be easily translated into the production trade. LIMS offers 10-week film production training and veterans job training programs designed to prepare students to go out and get a paid job on a movie or TV set.
