2 To 5 Inches Of Rain Expected In Next Santa Clarita Storm

Up to 5 inches of rain is expected in the next Santa Clarita storm, with no chances of snow for the Grapevine.

The next Santa Clarita storm is expected to arrive Tuesday morning, said Rose Schoenfeld, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service, (NWS).

“We are looking at widespread moderate to heavy rain through the region,” Schoenfeld said. “We are expecting 2 to 5 inches of rain in the coastal and valley areas.”

The peak of the Santa Clarita storm is expected to be in the afternoon hours with a half to an inch of rainfall per hour, Schoenfeld said.

This storm is a warm system, keeping snow levels around 8,000 to 10,000 feet of elevation, according to officials.

In addition to the rain, the storm is expected to bring breezy conditions to the Santa Clarita Valley.

Showers are expected to linger into Wednesday, before clearing up for St. Patrick’s Day, according to officials.

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
