Officials with the National Weather Service (NWS) have issued a wind advisory for several valleys in the northern section of Los Angeles County, including the Santa Clarita Valley.
The wind advisory was put into place at 2 a.m. Thursday, and is expected to last until 1 p.m. Saturday, according to NWS officials.
“Gusty winds will make driving difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles,” reads the NWS advisory notice.
Winds are expected to blow northeast between 20 to 30 mph, with the potential for gusts to reach as high as 45 mph, according to NWS officials.
Officials expect the winds to be strongest in the early morning and afternoon hours during the advisory period.
“When driving, use extra caution,” the advisory reads. “Be prepared for sudden gusty crosswinds.”
Although strong winds are expected, Santa Clarita anticipates to see sunny skies as the week closes out, with high temperatures at the low 70’s and low temperatures at the mid 40’s, according to NWS officials.
