An Amazon big rig fire on the northbound 5 Freeway near the Newhall Pass in Santa Clarita led to stop-and-go traffic and prompted a SigAlert Monday afternoon.
At around 4:15 p.m. Monday, first responders received reports of a vehicle fire on the northbound 5 Freeway near the 14 Freeway on-ramp, according to a spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
“They found a truck well-involved,” the representative said.
The fire caused a SigAlert to be issued for both lanes of the 5 freeway truck route near the 14 Freeway on-ramp, according to CHP logs.
The truck route lanes were initially blocked, but as of 5:06 p.m. they had been reopened, according to CHP logs.
