The 2020 KHTS Sacramento Road Trip is quickly approaching, and there are still a few seats available to Santa Clarita residents interested in discussing key community issues with state legislators.
So far, over 100 community leaders from Santa Clarita are already set to travel to Sacramento March 16-17, joined by State Senator Scott Wilk and State Assemblywoman Christy Smith, to discuss education, water, workers comp, split roll tax and more with state leaders.
“Our trip is also an opportunity to spend time with Senator Scott Wilk and Assemblymember Christy Smith,” said KHTS Owner Carl Goldman. “In addition, we will spend time with our assembly member, Tom Lackey, who represents the Antelope Valley as well as a portion of Santa Clarita, and Senator Henry Stern, who represents the most western section of our valley.”
The 2020 trip is the fifth year in a row Wilk has been involved with the KHTS Sacramento Road Trip.
“The KHTS bus trip is unlike any other program in Sacramento,” Wilk said. “Residents have an opportunity to engage in an intimate setting with some of the highest policy makers in our state, from the Senate pro tem, Tony Atkins, to the president of the Public Utilities Commission, Marybel Batjer. It’s a wholly unique opportunity for Santa Clarita to meet Sacramento.”
KHTS is set to interview guests on the bus as it drives to and from Sacramento. Their interviews about the trip will be added to a historical archive on the KHTS website.
“We depart early Monday morning, March 16, by bus and return Tuesday evening, March 17, as we present a combination of educational and advocacy activities during our two days in Sacramento,” Goldman said. “We’d like to thank SCV Water, Southern California Edison, Southern California Gas and California Credit Union for sponsoring this powerful event.”
