How often did you hear grown-up kids say they miss their mum’s cooking? Well, that’s something that every mother wants to achieve. But with so many things the modern mum has to do, from getting the kids all cleaned up for school to make sure that hubby has his lunch packed and attending to groceries. Add to that the stress at work, it’s really hard to make every meal for your beautiful kids special every day.
So how can you prepare a sumptuous and tasty meal for your kiddos without spending half a day in the kitchen? Please read on.
4 Cooking Hacks for Busy Mums
Everything starts with simple planning. According to Simply Mumma, making a weekly meal plan and having a well-stocked fridge is the first step to whipping up your kiddo’s lunch box meal quicker and cheaper. But what other things can you do to make that ultra special food for your kids within under 5 minutes? Let’s find out.
Shred Chicken in Seconds!
Most people know of this trick but if you haven’t yet. Here’s the secret. Cook your chicken either in a crockpot or boil it in salted water. Make sure that it has tenderized and has cooked thoroughly before getting it out of the casserole. After it cools, get your mixer out. Put the chicken in the mixing bowl and start shredding. Be careful when you are shredding it. Set the mixer in the low and don’t get too carried away grinding it. You might pulverize your chicken!
Peel Garlic Quickly
Though garlic has many uses, cooking can sometimes take a while when you have to peel about 10 cloves of garlic then you have to mince them after. What you have to do is cut the end of the cloves and place them on the chopping board. Smash the clove with the knife on top of it. The skin will split and its skins can be taken out easily.

Squeeze All the Juices of a Lemon With A Spoon
When you need to use the citrus flavor of lemon, it can be quite a fight trying to squeeze all the juice out. The trick is to use a spoon rather than exerting too much to no avail effort to take all of the juice. What you have to do is pierce the center of the fruit with the spoon and twist. All that juice will come flowing and you’ll never need to use brute force again.
Keep a Trash Bowl on the Counter
Cleaning up after yourself is a must and a practice of proper hygiene when cooking. However, it is just too annoying to clean up when you need somewhere to be. Instead, always keep a trash bowl near where you prepare all your ingredients. That way, you can just peel and throw or cut and dump your scraps. Another helpful tip is to get a kitchen trash basket that can just be hanged on your counter. But of course, after throwing all your trash into a proper trash bin, make sure to clean your bowl or your basket trash bin.
There are still other tricks you can do to make the cooking time a breeze but whatever you do, cook the meal with love and effort and it’ll come out extra special.
