Action Drug Rehab Hour –Shell and Mikey’s Journey– May 22 2023
On this episode of The Action Drug Rehab Hour, host Cary Quashen brings Action Rehab family members Shell and Mikey to tell their stories to listeners. Cary opens the show up by describing recovery as a journey with two doors – one with drugs and alcohol that yields the same results and another without that offers a new path. Mikey also describes the journey of drugs and alcohol as a “Circle of Shame” that follows users.
At the Second half, Shell begins to describe her journey with alcoholism. She describes the struggles by stating that alcohol is a scapegoat to forgetting about things and people; you’ll lose friends along the way and simply won’t care. Later, her son Mikey comes on air to share his journey with alcohol, marijuana, and other substances. Mikey describes how recent events had been difficult in his life, getting in fights with roommates, losing a job, etc. and how his journey with sobriety aided him in getting a new outlook on life.
Finally, Cary wraps up the show by stating, “We’re as sick as our secrets” and offers listeners advice on their wellbeing journey.
