Deputies first responded to an attempted burglary on the 26000 block of Canyon Terrace Way in Canyon Country at 11:30 a.m.
The suspect reportedly used a tire iron to gain entry to the garage of the home.
There, he encountered the resident, who proceeded to barricade himself in his home and call for help, according to Lt. Leo Bauer from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
The suspect has been described as a male Hispanic, approximately 5’10” and 165 lbs, wearing an all-black hoodie, dark denim and a red bandana covering his face.
Nothing was reportedly taken from the residence, and the suspect fled before deputies arrived.
