The event offered prizes including free food coupons and San Diego Zoo tickets to parents, while young children were treated to puppet shows and balloon animals.

Magic Castle magician Dennis Forel, one of the entertainers, was able to create over 100 different animals using only balloons and his breath.

While the children were busy watching the performances, parents could shop for mother’s day gifts.

“Flowers, jewelry, fashion, accessories, anything she might want,” said Connie Cashin, one of the organizers of the event. “Everybody’s just celebrating moms today.”

Over the course of the three hour broadcast, shoppers could also climb aboard the KHTS antique fire truck for commemorative photos.

The event provided a welcome distraction for many children bored with shopping throughout the outlet mall.

“Kids are having a great time,” Cashin said. “Lots of fun balloons from the balloon guy, and they’re getting interviewed on the radio, which they love.”
