Congratulations to West Ranch on a great season and a postseason run to remember! West Ranch took the lead on Reiger Burgin’s third rushing touchdown of the night with just over a minute to play in the fourth quarter, but Temecula Valley drove down the field for the game-winning score to stun the Wildcats, 31-28.
Aided by a pass interference in the waning seconds of the game, the Temecula Valley Golden Bears scored on a 10 yard touchdown pass with 10 seconds to go in the game to complete their fourth quarter comeback and end the Wildcats season at 10-3.

West Ranch overcame a rough second quarter in which Temecula Valley scored 17 unanswered points to lead 24-14 at halftime. After a defensive struggle for most of the third quarter, Walker Eget connected with Zach Van Bennekum for a four yard touchdown pass with a little over a minute left in the third quarter. It would be Eget’s only passing touchdown of the game, bringing his final tally on the season to an even 40 for 2019.
The fourth quarter of tonight’s game had just as much theater and drama as last Friday’s game against Wilson. Temecula Valley missed a field goal, that would have extended their lead to 27-21.
Then, West Ranch misses a golden opportunity to take the lead. With the ball on the Golden Bear 12 yard line, the Wildcats get called for a personal foul, pushing them back to the 27. Facing a fourth and what-seemed-like-forever, West Ranch opted to go for it and failed, getting 22 yards when they needed 25, turning the ball over on downs.
The Wildcats tightened up on the next defensive possession and were able to get the ball back with great starting field position on the Temecula Valley 43 yard line. A few plays later and they had the lead for the first time since the second quarter on Burgin’s touchdown.
Temecula Valley stormed back in that final minute, and the rest is history. West Ranch deserves a round of applause for all their hard work this season and a great postseason.

Refs took that game away from West Ranch on a terrible home field call. Refs had a terrible game all night. West Ranch won that game, they played great team ball. Reiger Burgin MVP.
Absolutely, correct Bob Stevie Wonder could’ve called a batter game than those zebras. Painted stripes if you ask me, West Ranch deserves their first championship appearance while Temecula earned themselves a special spot in hell right next to their acquaintances, the referees.
Finally someone writes about that awful pass interference call with 30 seconds left on 4th and 6. A blind stupid ref decided that game. Nice article. West Ranch was robbed. They had a great season and should be playing this week. And that ref should never work another game.
I’ve watched the play over and over and it clearly is difficult to tell if it was a PI, It looks like good defense!
I’m sure along with many of the other parents I feel robbed and so disappointed our boys aren’t going to the championship.
Where do you watch it at?
Where are you able to view the play?
The refs Robbed West Ranch of the game. What about when number 21 on Temecula Valley was cussing at the ref and he threw a flag and then the head ref waived it off??!! Kohl was held the entire time and they only called it a couple of times . This game was absolutely ridiculous. The refs should be investigated and held accountable. I have never in my life seen a more biased reffing team.
West Ranch was robbed of this game. The refs were the worst I have ever seen . What about when number 21 on Temecula Valley was cussing at the refs and he threw a flag and then the head ref waved it off ??? Holding on Kohl every play???
There should be an investigation of this reffing team and they should be held accountable so this does not happen to anyone else.
#8 Sirias won the game for WR on that play on the 4th qtr with 30 secs left, it was a beautiful clean stoppage, perfectly timed. The downside is that he did it in front of the opposing team and the coaches coerced the refs to call PI when it clearly wasn’t a PI. The refs won the game for the other team without playing a down. Great season for the wildcats!
#8 Sirias won the game for WR on that 4th qtr play and everyone knew it. The only thing was that it happened in front of TVHS coaches and the coaches coerced the refs to call a PI. That was not a PI, that was a sensational play that #8 Sirias did that won the game. The refs made a very bad call and it cost WR the game.
Absolutely. This was the worst officiating I’ve ever seen. That was a bogus PI call. These refs should never be allowed to officiate a game ever. Especially a important game like this. Something has to be done. We need a review system. Every team has monitors. All the west ranch parents were livid. West Ranch was the better team.
