City Of Santa Clarita To Launch First-Ever Medallion Scavenger Hunt

Officials with the City of Santa Clarita are set to launch the first-ever Medallion Scavenger Hunt, where residents can search the City’s parks for the chance to win a $100 gift card.

On Tuesday, July 14, Santa Clarita’s first-ever Medallion Scavenger Hunt is scheduled to begin, inviting residents on a “quest to solve riddles, discover clues and be the first to find the medallion and enjoy the spoils.”

“A lone medallion – a sleek, black circle adorned with the City of Santa Clarita logo in gold  – lies in hiding, waiting to be found by a lucky person in one of the City’s 35 parks,” reads a statement issued by the City Tuesday.

Starting on the 14th, participants are set to receive clues regarding the medallion’s location every Tuesday and Friday on the City of Santa Clarita Events page on Facebook.

“Clues will start out vague and become slightly more detailed the longer the medallion stays hidden,” Tuesday’s statement reads.

City officials say that the first person to find the medallion is set to win a $100 gift card of their choice. If the medallion is found by a resident under the age of 18, the prize is instead set to go to their parent or guardian.

In order to ensure the safety of all participants, several rules have been put in place for the scavenger hunt, and residents agree to abide by them by participating.

Some of these rules include:

  • Hunting must take place during daylight hours only when City parks are open to the public.
  • The medallion will be hidden in plain sight in a publicly accessible area – hunters should not enter maintenance yards or buildings, climb fences or terrain, or engage in any other behaviors not typically permitted at City parks.
  • Participants are required to practice physical distancing and wear face coverings as required by the Los Angeles County Public Health orders.
  • City of Santa Clarita employees and their families are not eligible to compete.

  1. How many prizes will be awarded? What is this about? It seems frivolous. Facebook is creepy.
