12 Additional Santa Clarita Valley Coronavirus Cases Confirmed

12 additional cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed within the Santa Clarita Valley as of Friday afternoon, for a total of nearly 2,800 cumulative COVID-19 cases.

As of Friday afternoon, a total of 2,790 cumulative cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in the Santa Clarita Valley since testing began in March. These include:

  • 938 in the City of Santa Clarita*
  • 39 in the unincorporated areas of Canyon Country
  • 1,727 in Castaic*
  • Five in the unincorporated areas of Saugus
  • 44 in Stevenson Ranch
  • 12 in the unincorporated areas of Valencia
  • 23 in the unincorporated areas of Val Verde
  • One in the unincorporated areas of Newhall
  • One  in the unincorporated areas of Bouquet Canyon

*As of Thursday, June 18, officials had recorded 1,312 cumulative cases among prisoners at the North County Correctional Facility, and 486 at the Peter J. Pitchess Detention Center. Those cases are distributed in both the Santa Clarita and Castaic totals. 

Saturday, June 13, Castaic reported 1,720 cumulative cases. On Sunday, the total case count for the area had decreased by one, further decreasing by four cases on Monday for a total of 1,715 cumulative cases.

Finally, the Castaic count began to rise again on Tuesday, reaching 1,721 cumulative cases.

The Department of Public Health did not comment on the reason these numbers decreased for Castaic over the weekend as of Wednesday afternoon.

Additionally, nine cases have been confirmed in nearby Agua Dulce, as well as 19 in Acton.

Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital reported its thirteenth coronavirus related death Wednesday, officials said.

Wednesday’s confirmed death brings the death total for the Santa Clarita Valley to at least 24, according to officials with the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health.

Due to patient privacy laws, the age and any information regarding underlying health conditions about the patient are unable to be released, according to Patrick Moody, spokesperson for Henry Mayo.

Los Angeles County Public Health has reported 21 coronavirus related deaths in the City of Santa Clarita, one death in each Castaic and unincorporated Valencia and two deaths in Acton, as of Wednesday.

As of Wednesday, Henry Mayo has conducted 2,343 COVID-19 tests. Of those, 249 have tested positive. 77 tests are still pending with Henry Mayo, according to the hospital.

There are seven patients in the hospital as of Wednesday, while 94 patients have been discharged, according to Moody.

  1. Inflated numbers, same person tested multiple times, no clarity on inmates vs community, back log testing results, who the hell knows the numbers. Looking at the layoffs of medical staff, the numbers are very very very low or why lay-off so many medical staff?! Can’t justify how that makes any common sense.

    Car dealerships were packed and every time we go out, it’s crowded so I’m happy to see not everyone is on board with this bullshit.
