A man who was allegedly wielding a knife inside a business was taken into custody at gunpoint in Valencia late Friday evening.
At around 7:30 p.m. Friday, deputies with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station received reports of a disturbance on the 25500 block of Rye Canyon Road in Valencia.
“Deputies responded to a person with a knife disturbing a business,” said Shirley Miller, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
Once they arrived on scene, deputies were able to detain the individual at gunpoint without incident, Miller added.

The suspect was subsequently arrested and taken to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station jail for booking, according to officials.
The exact circumstances leading up to the suspect allegedly wielding the knife are still under investigation.
