One Detained After Threatening To Burn House Down In Canyon Country

A man was detained Thursday afternoon after allegedly wielding a knife and threatening to burn a house down in Canyon Country, officials said. 

Just after 1:25 p.m. Thursday, deputies with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station received reports of a disturbance at a residence on the 18700 block of Bainbury Street in Canyon Country.

“They responded to some sort of domestic disturbance,” said Sgt. Jepson with the station. “The suspect possibly had a knife.”

Deputies were later informed that the suspect was in the garage of the home, where he was “threatening to burn the house down,” Jepson added.

One person was detained, and no injuries were reported in connection with the incident, according to officials on scene.

Deputies were still on scene as of 2 p.m. Thursday.
