Over the weekend, law enforcement agencies in the Santa Clarita Valley witnessed a decrease in arrests.
For the first time in a number of weeks, the most common reason for arrests is not DUIs.
While the DUIs were down, violent crimes did spike, making up 40 percent of the arrests.
In the first violent crime, a woman allegedly fought with her ex-roommate in a bar and repeatedly slammed his head against the wall.
The other arrest was for a Castaic man who assaulted an elderly person and there were two individuals arrested in separate incidents of domestic violence.
As to drug and alcohol-related crimes, there were arrests for DUI, public intoxication and someone who was in possession of drugs while in jail.
Other notable arrests include someone who stole an access card with intent to defraud the victim and someone arrested for violating their post-release community supervision.
