A transient was arrested after he allegedly burglarized a mechanic shop and was caught by deputies tampering with vehicles in Canyon Country Monday morning.

Around 1 a.m., deputies were patrolling near Camp Plenty and Soledad Canyon Roads in Canyon Country when they spotted a man appearing to tamper with cars, said Deputy Mariela Picard, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“Deputies observed the suspect… appearing to tamper with a vehicle parked in front of a mechanic shop that also appeared to have been burglarized,” Picard said. “Deputies contacted the shop’s victim and confirmed, through video surveillance, that the suspect had burglarized the business.”
