In two separate instances Saturday, deputies from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station made two arrests for the possession and sales of heroin.

A deputy arrested a white male adult after conducting a traffic stop on Ridge Route Road in Castaic. The man was in possession of heroin for sales, and was also on parole for robbery. The deputy arrested him on two felony charges.

Meanwhile, as the Castaic arrest was occuring, another deputy encountered a white female adult in a vehicle parked near a business on McBean Parkway. The woman was also found to be in possession of heroin for sales, as well as being wanted for a $40,000 misdemeanor warrant.

“Both the male adult and female adult were transported to our jail,” said Shirley Miller, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station. “We are determined to proactively keep on the watch for any and all illegal activity in SCV, and hold individuals accountable for their actions.”

The arrests come as Santa Clarita Sheriff’s begin utilizing the services of K9 units more and more.

“The K9’s specialize in drug detection and gun detection,” said Miller. “It’s just another way that we can help enhance the public safety of our community.”
