Two teenagers were arrested at gunpoint in Newhall Tuesday night after an alleged altercation broke out “over a girl.”

At around 10 p.m. Tuesday, deputies with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station received reports of an altercation near Newhall Avenue and Railroad Avenue in Newhall.
“It sounds like it was over a girl,” said Shirley Miller, spokesperson for the station.
Over the course of the altercation, a 24-year-old man was reportedly threatened by two teenagers, and believed that one of the suspects had a firearm in his waistband, according to Miller.
Additionally, one suspect allegedly drove his vehicle at the victim as the altercation continued, Miller added.

Deputies were able to locate the two teenage suspects near Railroad Ave. and Drayton Street, where they proceeded to take them into custody at gunpoint at around 11:45 p.m., according to officials on scene.
One of the teenagers, a 19-year-old Hispanic man from Pacoima, was arrested on a felony charge of criminal threats, while the other, a 19-year-old Hispanic man from Palmdale, was arrested on felony charges of assault with a deadly weapon.
The two were transported to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station Jail, where they were booked at around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday.
No injuries were reported in connection with this incident.
