The series has seen 108 adoptions over the last three years, but some harder-to-place pets — and some highly adoptable ones too — have continued to be overlooked, making the holidays a perfect time to change these deserving animals’ lives for the better, forever.

KHTS Adopt a Pet - Meatball

Meatball

Meatball, 5-year-old pitbull

Meatball has been waiting the longest of all the pets still in need of a home, having taken the spotlight in August 2017 at Tails and Scales Animal Rescue.

The short and stocky pup is fun-loving, energetic and incredibly playful. Despite his endless energy, he also loves his humans and enjoys sitting in people’s laps. Meatball is in need of an experienced adopter with no children, and must be the only pet in his future home.

Bonita and Hamlet

Hamlet, 5-year-old husky; Bonita, 4-year-old husky

Hamlet and Bonita are a bonded pair of huskies, each with one brown eye and one blue eye, who love to play and cuddle with their humans at St. Bonnie’s Sanctuary.

The duo was rescued from the shelter when Bonita was pregnant with Hamlet’s puppies, and all of their babies have since been adopted while the mother-father duo continue to wait patiently for their turn.

Ace

Ace, 6-year-old tabby cat

Ace from St. Bonnie’s Sanctuary is a big cat with a big heart.

Last year, the former stray graduated from the kennels to act as the office cat at the sanctuary, and would love a home with lots of attention and a great view of the outdoors.

Tony

Tony, 3-year-old shepherd/pit mix

Tony from Tails and Scales Animal Rescue is a puppy at heart who loves to snuggle and play fetch, and even knows how to give high fives and kisses on command.

The goofy “love bug” is energetic and happy-go-lucky, and gets along well with other large-breed dogs. He would do well with active adopters who would take him hiking or running, and needs a home with no children, cats or small dogs.

Nova

Nova, 10-year-old shepherd mix

Nova from St. Bonnie’s Sanctuary loves to flop over on her back for tummy rubs from friends and strangers alike.

Always excited to see her humans, Nova loves people and being near her humans as much as she can. However, she does need to be the only animal in her future home.

Violette

Violette, 4-year-old tuxedo cat

Violette from St. Bonnie’s Sanctuary has an upside down heart shape around her nose as part of her unique coloring. She was rescued as a pregnant 1-year-old, and even acted as a foster mom to three kittens in need, in addition to her own two babies.

Though she’s shy at first, once Violette gets to know someone, she loves to cuddle and play with her toys. She does great with other cats, and her favorite pastime is to lounge around by a window and watch the birds outside.

Hope

Hope, 2-year-old special needs cat

Special needs cat Hope from St. Bonnie’s Sanctuary has overcome a lot in her life, and is living with spinal cord damage as a result of human cruelty.

Without full motion of her back legs, Hope is able to “hop” around, and loves to play. Her disability has left her incontinent, requiring a very special adopter who is willing to give her the extra care she needs.

About the KHTS Adopt a Pet Series

Once a month, the KHTS Adopt a Pet series features an adoptable animal from the Santa Clarita Valley in need of a home. The KHTS Features team travels to different rescues and shelters in Santa Clarita to meet the pets and tell their stories in hopes of helping them get adopted. First launched in August 2016, the series has partnered with seven local rescues, as well as the Castaic Animal Shelter, to showcase more than 100 dogs, cats and bunnies, and has seen 100 — and counting — adoptions so far. The series was created by KHTS Writer and Editor Melissa Lampert-Abramovitch, who has more than 12 years of experience in the animal rescue world.
