As the 2025 high school football season moves into Week 3, only one team in the Santa Clarita Valley remains undefeated: Saugus. Meanwhile, Valencia suffered its first loss in a high-scoring battle, and other local programs continue to seek consistency.
Saugus (3-0):
Saugus appears to have turned things around after two difficult seasons, starting the year 3-0 following a tight 30-27 win over Camarillo.
Quarterback Jake Nuttall completed 16 of 23 passes for 153 yards and two touchdowns. Junior receiver Landon Lattimore caught both scores and finished with 59 receiving yards. Running back Ty Hall had his second 100-yard rushing game of the season and scored his fifth touchdown of the year.
After going just 2-18 over the past two seasons, the Centurions seem to be back on track. They will look to continue their momentum Saturday at 7 p.m. when they host Hueneme at College of the Canyons.
Valencia (2-1):
Valencia has made a strong start compared to last year’s 0-4 opening, earning early wins over top-100 California teams Simi Valley and Chaminade.
Last week, the Vikings dropped a thriller to Bishop Amat, 42-38. Quarterback Brady Brettauer threw for 285 yards and three touchdowns while also rushing for one.

Brian Bonner had a huge game, scoring on an 85-yard reception and totaling 154 all-purpose yards. On defense, Elias Holloway had an interception and a fumble recovery.
Kicker Matteo Petroski also nailed a 51-yard field goal. Despite those highlights, Valencia couldn’t contain Bishop Amat’s Ryan Salcedo, who rushed for 222 yards and five touchdowns, including a 79-yard game-winner in the final minute.
Valencia hits the road to face Paraclete on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
Hart (1-2):
Hart is coming off a 47-21 loss to Paraclete. The Spirits jumped out to a 21-0 lead before Jacob Paisano connected with Matix Frithsmith for Hart’s first score. In the fourth quarter, down 34-7, Paisano rushed for a touchdown to bring some life back to the team.
However, Paraclete closed the door with a late score, and Frithsmith added another touchdown in the final minute. Hart’s originally scheduled opponent, Bishop Montgomery, has forfeited its season, so Hart is currently seeking a new matchup for this week.
West Ranch (1-2):
The Wildcats earned their first win of the season with a 23-13 victory over Antelope Valley. Quarterback Blake Johnson returned from injury and split reps with backup Humza Harsolia.
Johnson threw two touchdown passes, one to Aidan Lynch and the other to Dylan Williams. Together, the quarterbacks totaled 181 passing yards. However, the run game struggled, managing just 19 yards from six different rushers. West Ranch scored 20 points in the first half but slowed down in the second with only a field goal. The defense contributed with two interceptions, a sack, and a deflected pass.
Castaic (0-3):
Castaic’s tough season continued with a 49-0 loss to San Joaquin Memorial. A thin roster of 30 players has been battling injuries and inexperience throughout the year.
The Coyotes will try to bounce back at home Friday at 7 p.m. when they face Dominguez in their final non-league game.
Canyon (0-3):
Canyon once again came close to securing its first win but fell short, losing 29-21 to Kennedy. The Cowboys struggled to contain Kennedy’s ground game, which totaled 309 rushing yards.
Running back Matthew Quintanilla and quarterback Diego Montes led the charge for Kennedy.
Canyon will wrap up its non-league schedule with a road game against Crespi on Friday at 7 p.m.
Golden Valley (0-3):
Golden Valley is still seeking its first win of the season after a 56-12 loss to Lancaster. The Grizzlies will return home this Friday for a 7 p.m. matchup against South Pasadena.
Trinity Classical Academy (1-1):
Trinity bounced back from a narrow season-opening loss with a dominant 42-0 win over Bosco Tech. The Knights exploded for 35 points in the first quarter alone. They will try to build on that performance Thursday at 7:30 p.m. when they host Gahr.
Santa Clarita Christian (0-3):
SCCS dropped its third straight game, falling 56-28 to Mammoth. The Cardinals struggled against the run, allowing 292 rushing yards.
On the bright side, they managed to put up 28 points, their highest output of the season so far. SCCS has a bye this week and will return to action on September 20 with a home game against Fresno Christian at 6:30 p.m.
