  1. I hope there is some follow-up on cause with these as we seem to get a fire in this area every time it is hot or windy. I recall several caused by welding/grinding activity. Do people still need to be reminded not to weld or grind outside near brush on windy/hot days and to use extreme caution otherwise? Is there commercial activity in this area where business owners need to be reminded that they need to exercise care and be fined?

  2. This area is extremely rural. There is no commercial activity there – large land plots with outhouses/sheds/barns abundant. This has to be either a resident working on their property sparking it or someone driving out there and intentionally doing this. There are a set of high voltage power lines running along there but those are constantly checked and maintained actively, appearing to be pretty new/safe. The area is also

  3. Fires don’t “break out”. 95% are human caused, according to CalFire, so what caused this one? Was it intentionally set or just carelessness. It is important to start reporting causes if we are ever going to reduce fires. People that care, will be more careful if they understand that certain actions cause fires (cigarettes, sparks, etc.) andif intentionally set, we need to all be on the look out for arsonists. Why don’t you ever report causes or at least “suspected” cause. I am so sick of hearing a fire “broke out”. It didn’t Someone started it.

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
