Soledad Fire Burns Nearly 1,500 Acres, 68 Percent Contained

The Soledad Fire that erupted Sunday afternoon has burned nearly 1,500 acres, and is 68 percent contained as of Tuesday morning, officials said.

As of 7 a.m. Tuesday, the Soledad Fire is at 1,498 acres and is 68 percent contained, according to Fire officials.

“All evacuations were lifted (Monday) at 2 p.m.,” Leslie Lua, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Fire Department said.

The brush fire was first reported Sunday afternoon at around 3:30 p.m. near the 14 Freeway and Soledad Canyon.

As the fire continued to rapidly spread and threaten homes on Soledad, Aqua Dulce and Briggs Canyon Roads, firefighters quickly requested a third alarm response to assist in the firefight and to protect the surrounding homes.

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
