A total of 662 coronavirus, COVID-19, cases have been confirmed in Los Angeles County as of Tuesday, with the first minor under the age of 18 in the county succumbing to the virus, officials said.
There have been 256 new confirmed coronavirus cases in the past 48 hours alone, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health.
Additionally, Los Angeles County Public Health Director Barbara Ferrer reported four additional deaths as a result of coronavirus, bringing the total number of coronavirus-related deaths in L.A. County to 11.

“Although things are improving and we’re grateful for everyone’s patience as they improve, there’s still limited capacity and sometimes long waiting times for results,” said Ferrer. “This means that we must unfortunately continue to prioritize who is getting tested.”
If you have been tested or told by a health professional that you show likely symptoms, you should assume you are positive unless testing shows otherwise. Act as if you are positive and isolate yourself from others, officials said.
If it is presumed that you have COVID-19, you need to immediately notify anyone you’ve been in contact with, and do not wait for the results, according to public health officials.

Testing is available primarily for people who are symptomatic and for whom a clinical provider has determined testing is appropriate, according to the public health department.
Officials are working on developing a blanket order to cover everyone who is presumed to have COVID-19.
So far, 42 percent of positive cases are between the ages of 15-40, while 39 percent are people between 41-65 years of age.
A total of 5,700 people have been tested, over 10 percent of which were positive. A total of 119 people have been hospitalized due to COVID-19, which is 18 percent of all positive cases.

The graphic shown says it all. Up 518 cases in LA county alone in just one week and the curve continues to accelerate. Thanks go out to everyone taking precautions but not enough are. Example: Having just returned home from grocery foraging I noticed most of us were keeping good spaces in line. Then a couple teens fell in behind me very close. I looked straight at them and said, “distance please” with no effect. Then I told then I did not want to infect them. Shoulda seen them move! (I’m OK, I think, but w/o testing, who knows?) How are you doing?
Remember that more testing has become available so more positive people out there
I have read that for every confirmed case, there are at least 5 to 10 more out there. So with 12 confirmed, we are more realistically in at least the 60 to 120 case range.
Yeah, I think a lot of the the younger population just doesn’t get it or care. I’m not sure which. I have had so many conversations with my young 20 somethings. They are taking all precautions and I have provided them with wipes, sanitizer, they don’t see friends. They live with us while going to COC . I don’t care how old they are, they’re not going out, except one has to work in an “essential” business. Scary enough as if she gets sick we have immunocompromised people ar home that it could be passed along to. More parents need to be having these talks. This isn’t sprng break, it’s a pandemic. There are so many groups of teens running around and having get togethers. It is up to their parents to put a stop to it. So many people are unnecessarily put at risk and for what? Your actions could kill someone’s grandmother, a friend with underlying health conditions, or someone with a weakened immune system. Not worth it. Contribute to the solution, not the problem.
