Sulphur Springs School District, Tri Pointe Homes Finalize Skyline Land Purchase Agreement

The Sulphur Springs Union School District and Tri Pointe Homes have entered into a Purchase and Sale Agreement (PSA) for a parcel of land located in the Skyline community in Santa Clarita.

After the land is transferred, the Sulphur Springs Union School District will construct a new elementary school on the site to serve the district’s growing Skyline area.

The Sulphur Springs Union School District is excited to add its tenth school. The new school will help alleviate overcrowding and provide additional educational opportunities for local students.

The School District’s Board President, Ken Chase, stated, “The Governing Board is excited that we have reached an agreement with Tri Pointe Homes to acquire the land needed to advance our plans for a new school within the Skyline Ranch community. This significant achievement is the result of hard work and dedication not only from the Board, but also from Superintendent Dr. Kawaguchi, and many others who have supported us through the process. Together, we are  excited to take this important step forward in fulfilling our commitment to providing the best  possible educational environment for our students and families.”

Tom Grable, the Division President of Tri Pointe Homes OC-LA, stated, “We are proud of our history with the Skyline community, including the homes that we have built and are continuing to build, as well as the opening of the Skyline Ranch Park earlier this year. We are very happy to be a part of this stage in the development of a new elementary school in Skyline. We wish the  Sulphur Springs Union School District well in building the new school once the land has been transferred and look forward to seeing the new school when it has been completed.”

The PSA outlines the terms of the land purchase, including the purchase price, closing date, and conditions precedent. The District will continue the process of securing necessary permits and approvals for the construction of the new school.

District Superintendent Dr. Catherine Kawaguchi shared that she is excited about the next steps in the construction of the new elementary school, which will house approximately 650 students. “The new elementary school will represent the District’s commitment to providing exceptional educational opportunities for all our students. The new school will be designed with the latest advancements in educational technology, creating a vibrant and engaging learning environment for all students,” stated Dr. Kawaguchi.

The Superintendent shared that she will prioritize keeping the Skyline community informed of the next steps as the District prepares to construct the new elementary school.

The Sulphur Springs Union School District and Tri Pointe Homes are excited about coming together in bringing homeowners in the Skyline community closer to a new elementary school, and look forward to the positive impact the new school will have on the community.
